LAS JARAS 2021 'BONARDA CHARBONO DOUCE NOIR AMPHORA'
$46.95
Charbono. Bonarda. Douce Noir. They all mean the same thing and it's becoming a rare variety in California as vineyard managers are tearing them out to replace them with more marketable varieties like Cab Sauv, etc. But thank heck that there are still some kicking around for Las Jaras to make an amphora aged one. And it turns out aging the wine in amphora really opens up the wine. Think bing cherry with hints of cocoa nibs that entice you to dig in nose first and opens up to brambly dark fruits that finishes in that resounding deep, dark richness of an airy cave without light.
