ALEXANDRE FILAINE NV 'CUVEE SPECIALE' BRUT

Fabrice Gass, the man behind the Filaine wines, is an iconoclast even for Champagne. From one parcel, that is planted to Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay, he makes three cuvees, each one is aged in old barrels - often leftover from Bollinger where he worked for years - no malolactic fermentation and very little intervention. The resulting wines are beautiful, complex, and far too limited in supply.

Don't be fooled, Cuvee Speciale might be the largest production that Fabrice has (3,000 bottles as opposed to 500) but there is no magic lost.  This is pure energy in the glass with great bright acid, red fruits, and a refreshing minerality. (Base 2019)
